My journey into the world of marketing started long before I knew what it was called. At 17, I set up my own DJ business and needed to secure gigs. To get the word out, I gave away mixes in exchange for contact information and then promoted my services for 18th and 21st birthday parties via email.
Little did I know, I was diving into what we now call Inbound Marketing. The thrill of figuring things out and making things work has stuck with me ever since.
After school, I pursued my passion for marketing further, earning a BComm and an MSc in Marketing from UCC. My time there wasn’t just about hitting the books—I also freelanced in graphic design and organized Ireland’s leading university marketing event, the Digital Marketing Summit.
These experiences solidified my belief that bold, creative thinking is essential for standing out in a crowded market.
My Professional Journey
Over the past decade, I've developed a deep expertise in marketing operations and technology. My career has taken me through various industries—from tech and software to education and tourism.
At HubSpot, I was all about advocacy, sales enablement, and crafting customer stories. It sounds fancy, but really, it’s about proving that what we say actually works.
During my time there, I grew HubSpot’s EMEA Customer Reference Program to $2.5M ARR, created dozens of compelling customer stories, and ran webinars with over 5,000 attendees. I also managed email marketing for the region, ensuring our messages were targeted, relevant, and effective.
But I didn’t stop there. At eZhire, I took on the challenge of transforming our digital presence and CRM systems. One of the most audacious moves we made was offering a free car for a day to new customers—a bold strategy that paid off by driving long-term customer loyalty and significantly boosting our user base.
It’s this kind of risk-taking that I believe is necessary in today’s digital world. Playing it safe just leads to mediocrity.
